Silver
Oak Vertical Tasting
Comments
-Silver Oak is simply stunning and
in many respects quite similar to a French St Julien. No matter which
vintage we tasted, the winemakers touch was identical and all we had to do
is try to discern the variation of the particular vintage. The scores
below will speak for themselves and for comparison, I included James
Laube’s score from his latest edition of California Cabernets. Aside
from the richness of the wines in general with black cherry fruit, cedar,
tobacco, and long, long aftertaste, we all marveled at the great balance
.The earlier two vintages 78-79 had seen better days . But from then on,
it was what everyone looks for in a cabernet sauvignon. What a way to end
the tastings for this year!
